Control the Things YOU can Control

Hi you all! It has been a while since I have updated my life with a blog. The first week of National quarantine is almost over, and it is still unbelievable that the club season is over as well. It is crazy to think that 1.5 week ago I was just going to the Netherlands for a midweek (no game that weekend), then suddenly to be quarantined and without upcoming club games (no play-offs or Euroleague qualifiers).

Right now life is all about “controlling what you can when things feel out of control.” bonus points to those who know this quote! In my case that means:

  • Waking up at 7.30

  • Practice twice a day, including 1 bike ride / push outside

  • Keeping my distance to other people

  • Stay in digital contact with family / friends

Luckily our National team staff is not sitting still, making sure we have a top notch training schedule and some equipment available to do our training.
If you need some inspiration for home workouts, check #FitMetTeamNL and of course my own socials!

In these difficult times I also have some exciting news to share….

(drumroll please)

So excited about this next step in my life! Hopefully next month I can share a few snaps of the place :-) It also helps me to keep busy right now to arrange everything for the moving. Packing up my rental, selling stuff that I don’t need, paperwork, and more!

To be able to move I am depending on society to obey the 1.5m rule so that there won’t be a complete lockdown, but I have faith that everyone is starting to understand the severity of COVID19.

Talking about COVID19… There is a lot of uncertainty about Tokyo 2020, all we can do is keep preparing for it and stay in the best shape we can be and wait for official statements by the IOC/IPC, NOC*NSF and Basketball Nederland, any other sources than those will be disregarded by myself.

In these times we have to make a stand as a global society, we have a responsibility not only for ourselves, but for everyone around us.
